Model 18 The Chinese New Year There are still many people celebrating the Chinese New Year in a traditional way，despite the fact that they are now living in a modern society. Although most of them have ceased pasting their doors with red paper scrolls on which are written lucky words，they still hate breaking things and hearing unpropitious words on New Year s Day. Although in some parts of the country there is no sound of fire-crackers，which in the old days，was believed capable of driving all kinds of evil spirits away，they can enjoy various kinds of celebrating programs from TV for fun. Now they tend to wish a Happy New Year to each other by telephone instead by walking door to door.
