二、具体题目分析:

Describe a well-paid job you would like to do in the future.

You should say:

what job it is;

what qualities are required for this job;

what you would need to learn to get this job;

And explain why you would like to do this job.

I’m going to talk about an occupation with the feature of high salary. Well, off the top of my head, I would say it must be the simultaneous interpreter, the crown place for any one who has a unyielding attitude towards English studies. Very few people can finally achieve it, and they are just like the tip of an iceberg.

The job is paid by hours, and the price of just one hour for professionals can start from several thousand RMB. Since the payment is far beyond the normal salary for most positions, the skills required for this job is exceedingly demanding, I mean, both physically and mentally. To start with, a mastery of the source and target languages is the prerequisite for this job. Apart from language expressions, for example authentic Chinese-English expressions, a thorough understanding of both cultures is also needed. Besides, interpreters are expected to process the source language information incredibly fast in their mind and sequently produce the language output in the received context of the target language accurately. Also, interpreters should be ideally fit. An unplanned conference may need them to prepare the interpreting material and references just a day before it, which means they have to boil the night oil sometimes.

Given those requirements, I reckon that the first thing I need is kind of a mentality in which I can go through a huge amount of pressure from the audience and the speakers. Then, I need professional qualifications to prove my professional skills. Maybe a degree from the internationally renowned university is an ideal option.

I am a determined and dream-driven person. English is my beloved major and I’ve been all the time dreaming to be an interpreter since I was in the high school. At the time, I was inspired by one famous state interpreter called Zhang Lu, who gracefully interpreted every sentence Mr. Wen our last Premier with accuracy. Since then, I’ve been more motivated to be an interpreter in the future.
